JOAD Progam

Junior Olympic Archery Development (JOAD) is a program of USA archery that is designed to teach archery to young people, over a series of classes taught by a certified archery instructor or coach. JOAD offers both recurve and compound archers the opportunity to learn range safety and proper shooting technique in an environment that also fosters focus, increased self-confidence, and team building skills. JOAD is open to any youth archer aged 8 to 18 and is designed to grow with the youth archer. Introductory JOAD classes teach the fundamentals of proper shooting form; as the young archer develops, they will learn more advanced techniques.

Both recurve and compound bows are used in club activities and in tournaments. JOAD archers who use a compound bow can train to compete in local and regional tournaments, and can earn a seat on a youth world team to compete in other countries representing the United States on behalf of USA Archery. Recurve archers can compete likewise, with the added benefit of being able to use their recurve bow to try out for a spot on the US Olympic Archery team which is selected and managed by USA Archery.

Whether your child's interest is purely recreational or an Olympic, Paralympic or World Championship dream, USA Archery's JOAD program is tailored to help the young archer achieve their goals. - See U.S. Archery (Source)

  12 Week Training Progam

This program was created in order to address the needs of progressing athletes from the beginning stages of development to the advance and elite level. Its mission is to enhance high-quality intermediate sports programs for talented youth to maximize their potential in archery.

In order to complete the mission of training talented and motivated young athletes, we work closely with them in putting together their own equipment, preparing them for tournaments, learning the scoring system and rules and conducts of the sport. We also tailor a training schedule to fit other activities in which the athlete is involved; For example, school, after-school activities, other sports or work. Two instructors will be working with the athlete independently to maximize proper training.

Adult Training Progam

Adult Archery Achievement is a program of USA Archery that allows adults to learn proper shooting technique, achieve awards based on score, and pursue competition if they wish, during a series of classes taught by a certified coach or instructor. Similar in scope to USA Archery’s Junior Olympic Archery Development (JOAD) program, Adult Archery Achievement is a logical “next step” for adult archers pursuing this lifetime sport.

What does Adult Archery Achievement offer the archer? In addition to receiving clear instruction and coaching via our National Training System, membership in an archery program provides unique benefits to adults, including the opportunity to make new friends, a great upper-body workout, the chance to build self-confidence, and learn team-building skills. Through our system of rewarding excellence, students have the opportunity to earn awards for their scores, which become progressively more challenging to achieve as the archer’s skill level increases.

USA Archery has consistently found that archery ranges and pro shops that host a JOAD or Adult Archery Achievement program enjoy increased customer satisfaction and referrals, as well as growth in equipment sales and practice range revenue.

Archers using recurve, compound and traditional bows, as well as Para-archers, are welcome to join Adult Archery Achievement, and competitive divisions are offered for each. Archers of any age are also encouraged to participate in tournaments; archers are welcome to compete in the Senior division at any age (usually ages 20 and older); beginning at age 50, archers can also choose to compete in the Masters age group.

Archers and Para-archers who use a recurve or compound bow can pursue competition in local, regional and USA Archery national events, and can also participate in the organization’s USAT Qualifier Series in hopes of earning a spot on the United States Archery Team (USAT) or Para-USAT. Compound and recurve shooters can also work toward qualifying for a World Cup, Pan Am Games or World Championship team; recurve archers have the added benefit of using their bow to participate in the Olympic Team Trials, which is also facilitated by USA Archery.

Whether your interest in archery is purely recreational, or an Olympic, Paralympic or World Championship dream, USA Archery’s Adult Archery Achievement program is designed to help you pursue all that archery has to offer. - See U.S. Archery (Source)
